Here’s how this all came about: I was in the middle of meeting with a client when it occurred to me that they were absolutely terrified of the thought of their kid filling out their own college applications. They were worried that their kid would put it off until the last minute. Like most kids do. Also, they weren’t really getting any help from their guidance counselors, so they always had the fear that they were doing something wrong or leaving something out.
I realized that this has been a recurring problem my clients have had over the years. Kids often talk about how exhausting the process is and how much it drained them, and how tired they were when all was said and done. But at the end of the day, it came down to one simple truth:
In most cases the kids put off the application until the last possible second!
Sure, they may talk about how they spent two and a half months working
on the applications; but the reality is, they spent two months
agonizing over the application, thinking about the application,
and………avoiding doing it. But, then, when they finally sat down and worked on the applications, they did them in two nights or one.
Well, that’s not going to happen this year!![]()
